On My Desk – 01

So, let’s talk magazines. Specifically, how you all organize items in magazines/catalogs you want to keep. I read a zillion magazines/catalogs a month – some subscriptions, some I buy on the news stand, some from the library, others from who knows where! I always end up with a towering stack of stuff on my desk with post-its and pages folder over to remind me, “yes, remember this!” So I thought, why don’t I start cataloging all these things on here for you all since you might find some of the things interesting, but also in an effort to make this here blog a catalog of my (sometimes) interesting journey into many types of design!

  1. This article about Christopher Brosius from New York Magazine – such a fascinating man (stay tuned for a write-up of his perfume since I own several different scents)!
  2. This article (that my Mom sent me) about Louisville, Kentucky (where we honeymooned) from the New York Times that mentions 21C, an amazing hotel where we have stayed a few times!
  3. This article about how to save money on travel from Real Simple magazine that is a great resource guide.
  4. An article about Christiane Lemieux (who is the founder of Dwell Studio and author of the book Undecorate) in Lucky Magazine that showcases her beach house on Long Island (and as predicted, it is breathtaking).
  5. This 2-in-1 Le Creuset pan that I surely need (although it sadly does not come in my favorite color).
  6. Two new beauty products I would like to try – Sally Hansen’s Moisturizing Nail and Cuticle Oil and O’Keeffe’s for Healthy Feet.
  7. The Fall issue of Atomic Ranch magazine (that my sweetheart bought me – and a surprise subscription too!) And seriously, check out this magazine, who knew they even had such a thing?! Oh how I love the modernized, updated mid-century ranches.
  8. The Spring/Summer issue of the free Taschen magazine that you absolutely must subscribe to! It’s free and while it only describes Taschen publications, their catalog is so comprehensive and very inspiring.
  9. The September issue of the J.Crew catalog that featured ballerinas from The Mariinsky School from Saint Petersburg and is mentioned here. I normally don’t save catalogs, but the pages from this particular shoot really speak to me, both in the color story and the juxtaposition of fashion and artistic dance. Brilliant!
  10. The Fall issue of La Jolla About Town magazine that I picked up on vacation when we went to Harry’s Coffee Shop (since 1960!) for a delicious old-school diner breakfast (which reminds me I need to write a post about our vacation from September, already!)
So, what about you? What’s on your desk? Inspiring articles? Piles of stuff to deal with? Color coordinated pencils (what, you don’t have these )? Do tell!
